BACK to comments Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 00:13 An excellent site -does my heart good to know there are resisters like you. From a veggie pensioner in Devon. Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 00:45 Vaccination would control the disease and prevent this crazy slaughter of animals, and the destruction of the environment. Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 00:57 there would be less resistance to this plea if a creative alternative to the problem of disposing with the carcases could be presented. I have absolutely no ideas but there may be some supporters out there who have. Given alternatives, these agencies may reverse their decisions.I would like know of some alternative. Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 02:47 the souls of so many creatures cry out for relief...their pleas permeate the heavens. Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 03:46 This is completely horrific. Does the government of the United Kingdom NOT know what they are doing? Such mistreatment of our enviroment CANNOT be tolerated by anyone! Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 08:30 The National Assembly should be working for the people of Wales and for its environmental protection, at the moment they are NOT. Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 11:38 As a native of Trecastle I support yur cause a suggestion for the website have a link to Carwyn Jones email so people can send comments direct to him and the enmail addresses for the Am for the area so they can be lobbied and asked for their views and what are they going to do to help the campaign. Might also be an idea to have the contact details for the candidates for the General Election for the area and make them put forward their views now before the GE is called and see what they will do now not empty promises during the campaign Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 11:59 I am very sorry about all the misery this disease is causing to many people everywhere and especially to those near the Epynt. It seems to be part and parcel of the mess our gobal systems have become, like BSE and genetic engineering in agriculture. Commerce operates on such a large scale that it is impossible to be aware of all the undesireable practices which are going on. I do think we can have a greater measure of control over the way things happen, though, partly through how we spend our money, as it is money which changes things, more so than politicians. Thank you for running this website. Have you heard this one: 'Save Our Sheep - Cull The Government' Well it made me chuckle, anyway. Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 14:10 Will try and support best way we can. Our thoughts are with you all.Keep up the good work. Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 14:17 This government has no regard for the rural communities or those that live in them. I personally think it places Wales even lower on it's list of priorities. They should not be using a place where there is no F@M to bury aniamls which have been killed in the outbreak. But as I said earlier TB and his Government don't care about Wales we don't matter, all he cares about is getting in for another term in office. What happens when the fluids ( form the dead animals) seep into the water system that we drink, if people start falling ill and worse will the government take the responsibility ???? It's time they started to take notice of the people it's supposed to govern and not ride roughshod over us. Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 16:36 It is going to be a real pleasure for tourists in this area to follow lorries which make you retch with their stench and leave a trail of blood and who knows what behind them. Maybe it would be a good idea for them to issue sick bags/gas masks at the Severn Crossing or at strategic points along the A40! At the last count there were over 2000 visitors to this website. If only we had that many to visit us in Trecastle. We DESPERATELY need more help. Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 17:13 I SUGGEST WE ASK LONDON TO TAKE THE CARCESSES TO BURY IN HYDE PARK. THEY ARE KEEN TO TELL US THERE IS NO RISK. Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 17:35 Transporting these carcasses to an area which is unaffected by this disaster is total lunacy! Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 18:46 I live in Llandovery and having two small children are concerned that this is going to affectthe water that my children will be drinking and coming into contact with. I think it is disgusting that the government are bringing infected animals into a clean area which could spell disaster for the whole of the Towy valley. This will be an environmental disaster. Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 19:14 We live in the upper Towi Valley very close to Llyn Brianne. We are deeply concerned that the short term fix will precipitate a long term crisis. Have the government really thought through the implications of the effect on ground water. Many of us in this area are on private water supplies. I shudder to think of the potential consequences. Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 20:06 I fully support your actions. Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 20:09 In Tony Blair's political arena it seems that the countryside in general, but Wales in particular, is not very important in the general scheme of things - certainly not as important as the spin doctoring picture that everything is under control. Our country and our countryside is being put in jeopardy in order to further his political ambitions. Why is none of this being reported in the news? There is no mention of this disaster!! Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 20:13 In GB like in France, the treatment of this problem was driven in a wrong way, by an administration more interested to preserve its own responsability, than to resolve the problem. Most of the cattle don't have to be slaughtered. In fact, if some carcasses must be burned, it's better to be in an infected area, not to risk to contamin a place fOr the moment safe of FMD. Keep wales safe ! Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 20:17 an enviomental disaster Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 20:56 Why are the animal right group's so quiet about this foot and mouth crisis,it makes you think. Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 20:59 Now there is a confirmed case in Nelson, Caerphilly surely it's evident that the mass culling isn't working or more likely the disease was brought from a contaminated area into Nelson. What's the matter Carwyn not spreading quick enough for you.The Epynt is clean, one case up there will mean another 28,000 for the pit. How many more have to die before you reach your target? Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 21:32 Something needs to be done to ensure that the water supply isn't contaminated for the people of Wales!! Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 23:08 I cried when I read the heart-wrenching posts at a message board about this terrible tragedy, and the posts led me to your site. Here in the US, we are only getting a superficial overview of the impact of Mad Cow Disease, and no current news about the horrible state you are in. Although I can only wish that I was there to help you protest, in person, against this outrage, what I can do is keep everyone of you in my prayers. Has anyone tried to involve an organization like Green Peace? There must be an international organization which may help you. Even though we are distant neighbors, we are brothers and sisters on this planet, and we share your anger and your grief. God Bless you all. Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 23:19 I DONT THINK PEOPLE UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M TELLING THEM! WE NEED MORE SUPPORT. PEOPLE LIVING IN TOWNS AND CITIES SUTCH AS NEWPORT OR CAMARTHEN DONT REALISE THAT THEY ARE DIRECTLY AFFECTED BY THESE CONVOYSOF LORRIES WHITCH BRING A SERIOUS ANIMAL AND ABOVE ALL, HUMAN HEALTH RISK TO INNOCENT HUMAN BEINGS WHO UNKNOWINGLY CONSUME COTAMINATED "DRINKING" WATER AND FALL ILL AS A RESULT Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 23:31 bury maff along with the sheep Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 23:41 disgusting acts by a disgusting government |
