National Foot and Mouth Group FMD Meeting - Sunday 1st July 2001

A meeting is being arranged in order that we may get together as many people as possible who are involved, or want to become involved, in the national campaign to stop the slaughter of healthy animals and bring the horrors of Foot and mouth to an end. We plan to hold this meeting on Sunday 1st July in the Midlands area so it is centrally located and close to motorways. The meeting will start at 1.00 p.m. and we shall be posting details of the venue with full directions as soon as possible but at the latest within the next 48 hours. We are giving early notification of this meeting in order that you can mark your diaries accordingly. Who should attend? ...................... Well if you are reading this then we hope YOU will be able to come! It does not matter if you have no previous experience................. whether you have one hour to spare a week or a hundred........... whether you can help deliver help packs or are better at home on your computer....................whether you have a car, a cycle or just two feet.....................whether you can help by raising public awareness or whether you can help by raising funds..................whether you are an 'up front' individual or are better as a 'backroom supporter'.............whether you are 18 or 80 ........ whether you live in a town or in the country ....................... whether you have animals or not ............. whether you can help by just occassionally answering a phone or whether you would just like to use your eyes and ears to give us information - PLEASE COME There is only one requirement ........................ You care about stopping this unnecessary slaughter of healthy animals. If you intend to come then please let us know using either an e-mail confirmation or one of the numbers below. If you cannot attend then PLEASE let us know by telephone or e-mail if you can help in any way locally. Just by knowing you are there and giving your support to those who are able to be more active means a great deal. Let us know you cannot come but that you are supporting us for the greater the numbers we have nationally then the greater our strength and power. We appreciate that there may be a lot of people who cannot come because of distance, other committments or finance ....... but if you want to have an imput then please e-mail us accordingly. We will let you know the venue, time and give you full directions as soon as possible together with an appropriate agenda ........ so please keep watching .............please come and ...................please help us do all we can to put an early end to this horror. I don't see why they didn't burn them in the middle of London. Why choose Wales? Makes me very angry

Hi You might remember that we met at last Wednesdays meeting (I am from the National FM Group) and the Heart of Hampshire etc. working with Ruth Watkins in the new proposal for the hefted flocks. I jsut wanted to say how it was a pleasure to meet you and congratulate you on such a well organised group that has acheived so much. I have a video tape copy of Ruth's speech and wanted you to have it (with a little bit of Edwin on it as well) - can you email me an address so that I can post it on to you. I tought it might be useful for you to show to farmers who might not have been able to make it to the meeting. Best Wishes Jon

I attended the meeting at the Brecon Beacons Park office this evening. I support vaccination as a means of getting and keeping our countryside open and I will attempt to gain support from Tourism National Organisations. I will email you regading progress. Please email me back and let me know if you thinbk we could manage to get Dr Ruth Watkins and the chief vet for Wales at the next B.B.N.P. meeting. It is time for tourism and agriculture to hold hands in friendship and try and bring this nightmare to an end, for the good of us all.

your website is good, but could do with links to other sites such as "heart of devon" cumbria crisis" etc Best wishes for such a horribly mishandled disaster!

All research by bona fide bodies - not the Lunatics advising the grinning idiot (TB)-know that vccination was (is?) the answer to our nations plague. Dunder heads such as Les Armsrong (Cumbria NFU) and his boss Ben Gill have violently opposed vaccination. They are too witless and dim to reach a sensible judgement for the way forward. This disaster we are all suffering could have, should have, been over in a handful of weeks rather than the eternity it is going to take. The foot and mouth crisis will definitely be over by Christmas....but which Christmas!

Ref: Brecon Beacons My daughter, who lives in the Forest of Dean, was told a month by a forestry worker in June that 10,000 bolts had been taken to the Beacons for the slaughter. So stand by for the rest to go! Can I point you in the direction of a website which has very good insight as to what is going on, although you may not agree to all the views expressed, it is www.cuttingedge.org/news/n1496.cfn Keep posting the latest information it is always helpful. Thank you

WE have a contact who is a civil servant in the Italian Government. He has seen a EU paper which stated that "Millions of UK farm animals would have to go, because when the eastern European countries came into the EU, they were to be designated as agricultural, and the UK was to become arable. Look at the website www.fwi.co.uk and the news for friday 3rd August. It might affect you. Best wishes. Marian
